Let’s Be Real, Nursing Is Beyond Difficult!

  • 12-hour shifts
  • 30 (short) minute lunch breaks
  • Very high nurse to patient ratios
  • Physically and emotionally draining
Combine the stressors you experience on your unit with the financial stress you feel in your personal life, and you have the perfect storm for burnout.
You wouldn’t expect a patient to shock themselves out of a life-threatening heart rhythm, so why do you expect to fix your finances by yourself?
As a nurse, you face unique pressures most people don’t understand. You dedicate your days—and often nights—to the well-being of others, navigating demanding shifts, emotional challenges, and the constant need for vigilance.
But while you're expertly managing patient care, you’re letting your financial health take a backseat. It's an all too common story full of never-ending struggle.

The Weight of Student Debt

The pursuit of your nursing degree often comes with a significant financial burden. The weight of student loans can feel overwhelming, delaying major life milestones and creating a sense of perpetual financial stress. You’re paying for your education, and it feels like it is never ending.

Credit Card Debt - The Silent Killer

Long hours and unpredictable schedules can make it difficult to manage daily expenses. Credit cards become a convenient, yet often costly, solution, leading to a cycle of debt that seems impossible to break.

The Saving Struggle Is Real

With demanding shifts and limited downtime, saving for the future often gets pushed aside. Whether it's for a down payment on a home, your children's education, or a comfortable retirement, the feeling of falling behind can be a constant source of anxiety. You are always thinking of others, and not yourself.

The Weight of Stress

The financial pressures you face don't just affect your bank account; they impact your overall well-being. Sleepless nights, anxiety, and the constant worry about money can take a toll on your physical and mental health. You bring your work stress home, and then add financial stress on top of it.

Unprepared For Unexpected Expenses

Just like in the hospital, unexpected situations arise in your personal life. Car repairs, medical bills, or family emergencies can derail your financial plans, leaving you feeling vulnerable and unprepared. You are always prepared for emergencies at work, but not in your financial life.

These Skills Aren’t Transferrable

You are experts in your field, but you may have never received adequate training in personal finance. Many nurses feel a sense of disconnect, knowing how to care for others, but lacking the tools to care for their own financial health. You are great at caring for patients, but not your own finances.

Let’s Get Prepped For Success

You probably have a few questions about how all this works. Here’s a few of the most common questions we get about our service.

What is financial coaching?

Financial coaching is like having a nurse preceptor—but for your money. You know what you should be doing, but actually doing it? That’s another story. Maybe debt feels overwhelming, and you have no idea where to start. Maybe saving money seems impossible because life keeps throwing surprise expenses your way. Or maybe you’re realizing that your current approach to money just isn’t getting you the results you want.

A financial coach won’t just throw advice at you and hope for the best. They’ll walk you through the entire process—challenging your mindset and behaviors around money, keeping you accountable to your goals, and helping you develop a system that actually works—one that fits your life.

How much does financial coaching cost?

Pricing is $199 per month.

What’s included in the pricing?

You’ll be connected with a financial coach to guide you in all areas of personal finance, including budgeting, credit management, fundamentals of investing, and behavioral finance.

The process begins with our course, The Money Steward, which helps you gain a clear understanding of your current finances and provides a step-by-step guide to developing a detailed spending plan (budget).

Once you've completed these initial steps, you'll meet with your coach one week later via Google Meet to begin the 1:1 accountability portion of the process.

How often will we meet?

For the first three months of coaching, you’ll meet with your coach biweekly (every two weeks).
This ensures that:

A financial coach won’t just throw advice at you and hope for the best. They’ll walk you through the entire process—challenging your mindset and behaviors around money, keeping you accountable to your goals, and helping you develop a system that actually works—one that fits your life.

  • Your spending plan is set up correctly.
  • You fully understand how to navigate You Need A Budget (YNAB).
  • You’ve gone through multiple rounds of the Payday Pause.

After the first three months, you’ll have formal quarterly reviews, with monthly check-ins in between. Your coach will reach out each month to see if you’d like to connect for a video chat.

You also have access to your coach via email at any time, with a guaranteed 24-hourresponse policy.

What is the Payday Pause?

When your direct deposit hits your bank account, pause and connect with your coach. This is acritical moment to assign purpose to your dollars. Your coach will help you think strategically about how to optimize your money to drive results toward your goals.

How long do I have to keep my membership or stay on as a client?

We operate on a month-to-month membership, but we strongly recommend staying for at least six months to see meaningful progress. The first three months are foundational—setting up your financial system, learning YNAB, and adjusting your habits. The second quarter is where most clients begin to see real results.

What if I have a complex financial situation?

Complex financial situations? You’re not alone. Most of the medical professionals we work with are juggling student loans, credit cards, family financial obligations, you name it. Here’s the thing: this program isn’t about untangling every knot overnight. It’s about giving you a clear system to manage the chaos, one step at a time.
Here’s how we’ll tackle it together:

  • Focus on what actually moves the needle. Debt? Savings? We’ll zero in on your biggest priorities first.
  • Ditch the overwhelm. We will help you simplify your money setup so it works for you, not against you.
  • Stay flexible. Life happens—we’ll adjust the plan as needed, whether you’re dealing with a career shift, family stuff, or surprise expenses.

Quick note: We don’t do taxes, investments, or bankruptcy stuff. But if your situation needs a specialist (like a CPA or estate planner), we’ll help you figure out when to loop them in.

Bottom line? Complicated doesn’t mean hopelessness. Let’s turn that “mess” into a plan you can actually stick with.

Do I need any prior financial knowledge?

Financial coaching is like having a nurse preceptor—but for your money. You know what you should be doing, but actually doing it? That’s another story. Maybe debt feels overwhelming, and you have no idea where to start. Maybe saving money seems impossible because life keeps throwing surprise expenses your way. Or maybe you’re realizing that your current approach to money just isn’t getting you the results you want.

Come as you are—whether you're familiar with money management or completely new to it. Together, we’ll build your financial confidence step by step, no matter where you’re starting from.

What is YNAB and why is it used?

You Need A Budget (YNAB) isn’t just another budgeting tool—it’s a system designed to put you incomplete control of your money. Built on the envelope method, YNAB ensures that every dollar has a job, helping you track expenses, make strategic spending decisions, and break free from financial stress.

Getting ahead with money doesn’t just happen—it takes a plan, some strategy, and a system that actually sticks. That’s where we come in. We’ll help you rethink the way you spend, save, and invest so that every dollar works for you (instead of disappearing into the void). YNAB is the tool that makes it all click, and once you start using it, you’ll probably wonder how you ever managed without it.

Will this process mean I’m on a strict budget? I’m scared you’re going to restrict my lifestyle and this will be a miserable process. Am I right to be nervous?

First off—feeling nervous? That’s totally normal. In fact, if viewed from the right perspective, it’s a good sign. It means you’re stepping into new territory where your thoughts and behaviors around money will be questioned, examined, and challenged—an experience that can bring some discomfort.

  • ✅ It’s about giving yourself permission to spend money guilt-free.
  • ✅ It’s about being in total control of your spending, saving, investing, and giving.
  • ✅ It’s about financial confidence—not deprivation.

So yes, your relationship with money will be stretched in new ways. And no, you won’t feel like you’re trapped in a financial prison.
